elle evans

Sustainable swimwear for every body

Frequently Asked Questions

How is your swimwear sustainable?

We like to stay as transparent as possible in showing you what makes elle evans swimwear sustainable.
- We design our swimwear to produce the smallest amount of fabric wastage as possible.
- All of our designing, manufacture and much of our sourcing happens right here in Melbourne.
- Our swimwear comes with specific no energy washing instructions that eliminate all energy consumption throughout the garments lifetime.

What is PET Fabric?

The fabric we use is recycled PET fabric or deadstock (pre-consumer waste). PET fabrics made from recycled plastics or re-shredded polyester fabric take 40% less energy than producing a virgin fabric. Post consumer waste is a fancy way of saying "scraps". In the fashion industry a lot of fabric is wasted in the cutting and manufacturing of garments, by using using post consumer waste we are preventing those "scraps" going to landfill.

How do I recycle your swimwear?

We encourage all our customers to either donate their elle evans swimwear to friends and family or a charity.

Can I machine wash your swimwear?

Our swimwear should not be washed by machine. We recommend rinsing them thoroughly as soon as possible after use then hand washing them in cold water, if you're swimming in chlorine treated water try using a cold-water compatible detergent such as Aware Sensitive Liquid when you hand wash. We recommend washing all our product s in cold water with a cold water compatible detergent as it increases the life cycle of the product and is far more environmentally friendly!
